“Now it’s time to change the name,” says Penny Fedorchak. “The Fallbrook El Charrito was originally associated with another similar restaurant in Oceanside, but there is now no connection and the name change is necessary.”
Starting just a week ago, customers were handed cards on which to note their suggestions. Already several hundred have been turned in. “The response has been super,” says Penny. The contest continues until June 30. Then the selection will be made and submitted to the county for approval. The winners will be announced in July and will receive free dinners and a top prize of a beautiful plant.
The Fedorchaks came from Redlands and have been in business together for 14 years. Joe and Penny have two daughters, Lorie, 14, and Stephanie, 12. Ray and Charlene are the parents of Susan, 10 and Katie, 9.
Penny’s father and stepmother, Charlotte and Glen Benton also live in Fallbrook, and Charlotte, a home economist has been of valuable assistance in planning new recipes.
According to Penny, she is often asked about the lovely hanging plants in the restaurant. “I mist them every night and water them once a week,” she says. For those who believe that the plants thrive on conversation maybe it’s the happy chatter of diners that makes them grow.
